Dunstall replica exhaust

    I'd like to replace the stock silencer I have on my SR with something else. I'm not looking for gain performance at the moment, simply I'd like to preserve the original one as it's a little expensive to replace in case of... :(
    I need something relatively "not loud" as I use my bike on normal roads and don't want to be stopped every 2 kms by Police because of an "ear-smasher silencer" :lol:...
    I've found some Dunstall Replica silencers, with removable baffle to clean and adjust the inside sound suppressing material. Anyone tried them?... Too loud? Too quiet?... Just right? :)
    Eventual suggestions for other kinds of silencers are obviously welcome!

    This exhaust is stuffed with rockwool and after 5 km it starts to get REALLY LOUD....
    I think you get in big trouble with the police.

    Nachbau Auspuff für die SR ist ....kostet dort ab 330
    Euro, ..... ...Anlagen mit EG-ABE besitzen eine E-Nummern-Stempelung (großes "E" mit Nummer in Viereck), Papiere müssen nicht
    mitgeführt werden. Gibt es für den Auspuff eine ABE so ist diese mitzuführen, der Auspuff kann beim TÜV
    allerdings auch eingetragen werden

    What's the problem with the Dunstall wool? Does it get loose? Absorption of exhaust vapours and consequent loss in damping noise? Or maybe it's not well built by itself?

    ich hab mir letzte Woche hier in England den schon öfter erwähnten kurzen Topf von Feked, mit abschraubbarer Endkappe gekauft (ist im Angebot, ca 34 Euros) drangeschraubt und sofort wieder ausgemacht-zu laut. Den Topf geöffnet und siene da, bis auf ein paar Billigwolle-Reste nix drin ausser dem Siebrohr.


    War dann am WE in Deutschland bei meinem Auspuffbauer, hab mir gutes aktuelles Dämm-Material und ein 10 cm langes Verbindungsrohr mitgebracht. Der Puff sah arg kurz aus bei Erstmontage.


    Heute alles zusammengabaut, Probefahrt......echt gut jetzt. Schöner dumpfer Sound, und gleich mal probiert auf der Autobahn. Selbe Topspeed erreicht (Drehzahl 5.) wie mit 2J4 Serientopf.

    Peppmöller's exhausts are hand-made, and the 330 Euro is for a replica of the original pipe, and shares not only its looks, but also its functionality. Peppmöller can also make cheaper, simpler pipes, and tailor everything to your specifications.


    Considering that a BSM pipe, which reliably falls apart after about one year, costs at least 200 Euros, Peppmöllers' prices seem fair to me.

    Nahhh you can actually buy it without worrying especially considering that you dont live in germany like most of them poor TÜV strucken fellas do :duell:. As hans aka insider6 said most of those exhaust are quite neat, but the packing material is utter crap, to use an overstatement :)
    Get the dunstall or the feked if possible in the long versions and take em apart remove the cheap fibrewool inside and get some better woven wool from your local spazzacamino or a friendly motocross store.
    final exhaust note will be pretty much like on a hot KTM or TM enduro and with the better quality material will hodl up for a good year.

    In case of buying Dunstall, I think I could try this solution: I could cover the inner tube with that "steel sponge", and then cover the sponge with rockwool for both sound damping and heat proofing.

    Ich meine, der Anschluß ist geschraubt mit M5. Mal versuchen, den Stutzen zu entfernen und mit ner kurzen Schraube verschließen.

    ne abgesoffene Kerze bekommste mit gezogenem Deko und mehrmaligen Durchtretens (5/6 mal), mit voll geöffnetem Gas, meist wieder trocken.

    Na wen er einen Stab in den Stutzen gesteckt hat( eingefädelt und Schlauch drüber) müsste der Schlauch ja über den Stab und Stutzen passen. Dann könnte es ja sein das es da bischen undicht ist

    So wird’s wohl sein. 15 mm Schlauch, 5 mm Alustab und zusammen stecken. Hält sicherlich, bis sich eine passende Gummikappe anfindet.
